03 · A room of my own

Beauty I can live inside

Pink roses, twinkly lights, plants, and a personal sanctuary.

After so many years of striving and holding things together, I began to understand that restoration needed a place to live. There was no need for another demand to become someone else. What my soul was yearning for was warmth, softness, and a welcoming corner to call my own.

Piece by piece, my bedroom began to reflect my essence: pink petals, leafy companions, seashell souvenirs, well-loved books, and the honeyed light of a lamp. Intentionally, each detail finds its place. A floral cushion gets its own little throne; twinkly lights lend the corner a wink of whimsy. How lovely to have a haven that feels unmistakably mine—a place for enframed blossoms, leisurely afternoons, and a chapter read just for pleasure.

At first, it seemed like decorating. Interestingly enough, those thoughtful touches were doing something deeper: reminding my body that constant bracing was no longer required. A bouquet beside the bed, a soft blanket waiting on a chair—small gestures, generous comforts. Beneath their charm, reassurance took root. The hearth held a deeper significance again.

Honing In to Home held the years of nurturing a welcoming home for my children. Stillness, Solitude, and Silence carries the gentler discovery that I can inhabit that warmth myself. This room holds the connection between them: the same hands, the same eye for lovely details, and a new willingness to be nurtured by the sanctuary I create.

Even without a book open or a project underway, an afternoon slips by in quiet contentment. Sunlight wanders across the floor while the household carries on; here, the luxury of an unhurried hour is enough. The invitation extends to anyone who enters: set something down and let your shoulders soften. Stay awhile.
