A life opening wider
Mineral springs, ocean waves, and the joy of a life opening wider.
This feels like the next chapter. Eagerly, my feet seek the sand and my skin the water, ready to receive the sea's generous abundance. A luminous mineral spring, the buoyant lift of an ocean wave, a quiet tide pool—each offers a different invitation to be fully here. Beneath years of responsibility, a playful, receptive part of myself has waited patiently for this opening.
In a natural spring, I am drawn to the clear, refreshing water and the company of turtles moving through it. Being near their unhurried world brings out my own sense of play. Sunlight skips across the surface, casting silver ribbons over the water. Refreshing against my skin, the cool water leaves me feeling renewed, revived, and relaxed. Leafy shade reaches beyond the bank. The moment feels crystalline and alive, a secluded sanctuary held by the earth itself.
At the ocean, I love to ride the waves and feel their rhythm carry me. Their sound is like a rocking chair: forward and back, arriving and retreating, steady enough to soothe something deep within me. Floating in gentler water, I can let the day loosen its grip. The water feels restorative, cleansing more than my body. It reaches the tired places in my soul.
Bare feet grounded in sand, my gaze settles on the small discoveries the shore reveals. Sand dollars, shells, and the intricate shape of a starfish leave me in awe. Empty treasures left by the tide come home with me; living creatures remain where they belong, admired in their own habitat. Those delicate colors draw me into the picturesque shoreline, where pale shells and pastel skies invite a closer look.
Intriguingly, a crab burrows into the sand, disappearing beneath the very ground where my feet have just wandered. A sea turtle at Little Talbot belongs to that same realm of wonder for me: an ancient presence within a landscape that keeps revealing more. Beyond the beach, the trees hold their own majestic mysteries. In my imagination, nocturnal life stirs after our footsteps fade, and the landscape takes on another rhythm.
Feathery palm fronds filter the sunshine and offer a welcome patch of shade. Beneath them, the surf supplies a soundtrack while the breeze brushes past. These are the moments I want to linger inside: sunlit, salt-kissed, tranquil, and wonderfully ordinary. Stopping long enough to notice gives them their radiance.
Honing In to Home grew from the years I poured myself into family, faith, and learning within our four walls. Stillness, Solitude, and Silence carries my return to inhabiting the life I survived. This next chapter belongs to that same heart, expanding. The love that made a home is learning to receive the world—its water, its creatures, its radiant beauty—with open hands.
More play, longer pauses, and noticing the now belong in this chapter. My transformation unfolds in these small permissions: to float, to watch, to wander, to welcome the unexpected. For a while, the tide can carry the tempo.
The water gives my contemplation a rhythm. Drawn to the rise and retreat of the sea, my ears follow its soothing swell. Some days release is only a small thing: an unclenched hand, a softened shoulder, the willingness to leave one worry unanswered for a while. Even that subtle release, that small settling, is something to savor. Before leaving the ocean, a quiet thank-you rises within me for the spiritual massage its rolling rhythm has offered my soul.
