A personal space

The art of
being here.

I’m Cristine. I love pink roses, the sea, handmade beauty, and a room where people can breathe. This is a little window into the life I’m learning to cherish, where seemingly ordinary moments become special.

A life made
by hand.

I believe the everyday can hold exquisite little wonders.

Undeniably me: a home where curiosity and connection curated our days. For years, my hands were busy creating a home while I homeschooled my children. We turned pages together, read aloud, followed their questions, prepared meals, and welcomed learning into our daily rhythm. Education came through the activities of everyday life—shared discoveries, spontaneous conversations, and room for exploration. In those moments, we captured the essence of who I am: nurturing my family and noticing the wonder woven into our surroundings. As a mother, my desire was for them to feel safe, inquisitive, and deeply loved. Even when weariness arrived, tiny delights could give an ordinary afternoon a lovely glow. Sometimes, on a rainy day, fancy floral teacups came out for a fun family tea party—a blissful little occasion worth savoring.

That earlier season found its way into Honing In to Home, a blog that grew into a book. I wrote as a pediatric nurse turned homeschool mom, sharing what faith and motherhood were teaching me within our four walls. I cherish what we made there—the conversations, the lessons that unfolded beyond a book, the warmth we built together. It is part of my story, though the quieter life I am learning to inhabit now has become the place from which I write.

These days I linger over a flower book, lifting paper petals from the page and layering them with shimmering gems, intricate stickers, and little glints of glitter. A simple sheet becomes a framed piece with depth and sparkle. Wholeheartedly, I delight in the slow work of crafting these niche projects—the thoughtful layers, luminous details, and little flourishes that make each piece my own. Giving one to someone who has been on my heart, as a gift, brings its own quiet joy.

One floral arrangement can change the essence of a room. Intentionally, I set pink roses beside shells from the shore, leafy plants, well-loved books, and twinkly lights, then move things until the corner feels like a haven. Fragrance, texture, and a golden patch of sunlight invite me to pause, breathe, and notice the exquisite beauty already here.

With fewer demands on my days, artistic expression has become part of my return to stillness. Earlier seasons found me immersed in adult coloring books or knitting blankets, hats, and scarves, stitch by stitch. These years beckon me to simply be. Presently, sticker mâché lends my hands a softer rhythm as I embellish frames and wooden keepsakes with paper petals, jeweled gems, and a touch of shimmer. The home I once poured myself into continues to nurture me in a new way. My desire for the reader is simple: that these pages feel like a welcoming hearth, a place to settle in, feel seen, and soften into the beauty of being here. May these words invite you to notice what lights you up, savor the splendid details around you, and turn everyday moments into treasured memories of your own.

The return
to myself.

For years I was in motion: mothering, caring, surviving, trying to keep everyone okay. Continually pouring ourselves out for our loved ones can tire even the most “all in” woman. Gradually, my days opened to a gentler rhythm: quiet mornings, nature, water, beauty, and the warmth of the hearth.

Honing In to Home grew from the years I poured love into family life and learned alongside my children. Stillness, Solitude, and Silence took shape as space opened to savor my surroundings and inhabit a fuller sense of myself. Alongside those writings, The Art of Contemplation carries that love of looking closely and lingering longer. Home, stillness, and contemplation flow together through these pages. Among these chapters, a tender thread unfolds: the mundane becomes miraculous when we give ourselves time to see it. A flower opening, sunlight spilling across the floor, a quiet corner glowing at dusk—the ho-hum becomes heavenly in these little moments. This journal follows my slow metamorphosis from always holding life together toward making room to breathe, marvel, and simply be.

My soul was not disappearing. It was returning.

These stories carry pieces of that return. Each can be read on its own, and together they trace how small pleasures and thoughtful pauses can lend everyday life a little radiance. My dream for this site is that it offers a place for contemplation—a welcoming haven to linger, feel delight, and discover what lights you up. Read slowly. Pause wherever something speaks to you.

My little world
of wonder.

These stories are my living journal of expansion and transformation: the beauty, stillness, solitude, and silence through which I keep returning to myself.

The way I notice
a life.

Through my lens, little pieces of bliss become keepsakes—a sunlit corner, petals catching the light, slivers of a passing day. A slow morning, a pool walk, a page transformed by hand—these moments have their own kind of radiance and delight.

Rose garden days

Pink roses, peonies, tiny cutout flowers, and a few sparkling details. Making beauty is one way I listen to myself.

Water as welcome

Rain on a beach, a swim in the ocean, turtles nearby, or quiet circles in the pool. Water helps me return to the present.

Hearth & belonging

Books, warm light, a table set with care, and the simple feeling of “you are welcome here.” This is the atmosphere I love to make.

Hearth is a
feeling.

I have always loved making a place feel beautiful. Years ago, that meant hanging my children’s art on the walls. Now it might be a flower page in a frame, a rose on a table, or lights glowing beside the books in my room.

I think beauty can be a form of welcome. It asks us to pause. It says we can soften here. When someone feels at ease in my home, or feels loved by something I made, that moment means as much to me as the finished piece.

There is still so much I long to explore and experience as this existence unfolds, yet I am giving myself room for a life with more quiet, more sea air, and more delight in the ordinary day.

With love, Cristine
